A cabin in the forest, in the truest sense
If the Groom Creek Getaway is the gathering place, The Forest Cabin is the hideaway. It’s an A-frame on two acres that meet the National Forest, perched on a rise that catches the mountain breeze, where the only thing in every window is more forest and the loudest sound is wind in the ponderosas. Pull in, drop your bags, and feel the high country do its quiet work.
Inside, a stone wood-burning fireplace and a pair of deep recliners make the great room the heart of the place. The full kitchen is well stocked, right down to the paper goods, and flows into the living area and its smart TV. There’s no dishwasher, so a pan or two gets washed by hand. Three bedrooms hold five beds in all, with a full bath, an in-unit washer and dryer, and central air for warm afternoons.
Hot tub on the deck, stars overhead
The deck is the whole point. There’s a private hot tub ringed by pines, lounge chairs for an afternoon with a book, and a covered porch that’s perfect whether it’s a summer evening or a fresh winter snow. Groom Creek Loop and Spruce Mountain are practically at the door, the Groom Creek Schoolhouse is a ten-minute walk, and Goldwater Lake is three miles off, with downtown Prescott 6.5 miles down the hill.

Good to know before you book
- The cabin is up a little hillside, with several steps to the porch. The main bedroom, bathroom and kitchen are on the main level; bedrooms two and three are upstairs.
- No dishwasher. The kitchen is otherwise fully stocked, paper goods included.
- Four guests is a firm limit. There's seating for four and one bathroom, and more than that stops being comfortable fast.
- There are exterior security cameras on the property, as noted on our Airbnb listing.
- No smoking anywhere on the property, inside or out.
- Yavapai County runs a strict fire ban most of the summer, so no open flame. The propane grill is always fine.
