The Best Time to Visit Prescott (Month by Month)

One of the best things about Prescott is that there’s no bad time to come — it’s a genuine four-season mountain town. But each season has its own personality. Here’s the honest breakdown so you can pick yours.

Summer (June–August) — peak season

This is the big one. While Phoenix bakes past 110°F, Prescott settles into the 80s with cool evenings — which is exactly why the lakes, trails, and patios fill up. Expect afternoon monsoon storms in July and August (dramatic, brief, and a relief), and the World’s Oldest Rodeo over the Fourth of July. It’s the busiest and most festive time, so book early. Fall (September–November) — the local favorite

Quietly the best season. The cottonwoods and oaks turn gold, the air goes crisp, the summer crowds thin out, and the hiking weather is about as good as it gets. Peak color usually lands in mid-October to early November up at our elevation. See our Prescott in the fall guide.

Winter (December–February) — cozy & festive

Spring (March–May) — wildflowers & mild days

Wildflowers, green hillsides, and arguably the most comfortable hiking weather of the year. Spring is mild, uncrowded, and underrated — a great time to beat both the heat and the peak-season prices.
